Velocity Case Study

Client: Animal Medical Center Ontario


The Animal Medical Center of Ontario is located in Mansfield, Ohio. The center is a full-service veterinary medical facility providing medical, surgical, and dental care to dogs, cats, birds, and pocket pets. In addition, the center also offers doggie daycare, dog boarding, and luxury cat boarding services on site. Dr. Susan Burkhart and Dr. Bob Mueller own the center and provide veterinary care to clients along with Dr. Brittany Gulker. Dr. Burkhart is one of the few veterinarians in Ohio to be certified to perform regenerative cell therapy on animals. The day to day operations and marketing endeavors are managed by Jennifer Weitzel, the Center’s Practice Manager.

The veterinary practice has been a client of VetMatrix since February of 2012, initially enrolling in the Starter Service to launch a new website. In December of the same year, the Animal Medical Center of Ontario enrolled in the Media Service to get a custom HD video documercial and monthly video advertising on YouTube. The practice was pleased with the professional video service provided by VetMatrix and in March of 2014, the Center upgraded to Velocity to expand their visibility and build their client base.

Pay-Per-Click Launch

Velocity by VetMatrix includes a pay-per-click (PPC) advertising campaign on Google managed by a Google AdWords Certified Account Manager. Upon upgrading to Velocity, targeted keywords were chosen by the Account Manager, a custom landing page was created, and the advertising campaign was launched. As Practice Manager, Jennifer Weitzel has been continually kept informed regarding the results of the pay-per-click campaign and the Account Manager has made any necessary adjustments or changes to the campaign.

Prior to launching the PPC campaign the website for Animal Medical Center of Ontario was averaging 285 unique visitors a month and 1,191 page views each month. Since enrolling in Velocity, the Center’s website has been transitioned to the latest responsive design offered by VetMatrix. The responsive design enables website visitors to easily access the website via any type of mobile or desktop device. The mobile responsive design has enabled the veterinary practice to target local pet owners searching for a veterinarian on their smartphones, tablets, or other mobile device.

Velocity Results

Since upgrading to Velocity, the analytics for Community Pet Outreach has shown site traffic steadily increasing month over month. In January 2013, there were a total of 487 visitors to the site, of those 388 were unique visitors, representing 73% unique visitors (those who had never been to the website before).

Enrollment in Velocity includes a professional website with unlimited editing ability, a custom HD video and video advertising, a pay-per-click campaign, and managed social media. Since upgrading and taking advantage of the professionally branded social media pages and weekly Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ posts by VetMatrix, the Center has seen a jump in social media engagement. Currently, the Center’s Facebook Page has 546 followers and 50 5-star reviews from clients. Additionally, the posts on the Facebook Page are seeing continuous engagement and the practice still owns the Page and can add any relevant posts themselves.

Along with an increase in social media followers and engagement, the Animal Medical Center of Ontario’s website has seen a large jump in visitor traffic. In fact, unique monthly visitors have doubled, from 285 monthly visitors before Velocity to 550 unique monthly visitors in Velocity. Page views have also significantly increased from 1,191 page views to currently 1,829 page views. Another metric tracked by VetMatrix for Velocity is the average monthly new client leads. The veterinary practice is getting an average of 133 new client leads a month and continues to garner new leads each month from PPC.

Summary of Results

When she elected to upgrade the Animal Medical Center of Ontario to Velocity in March 2014, Jennifer Weitzel was looking to expand the practice’s visibility and attract more new clients in the local area. After 7 months in Velocity, the practice has expanded their visibility on social media with an increase in followers and engagement, increased website traffic by doubling the amount of unique visitors, and continues to add new clients by generating 133 new client leads a month. In addition to these measurable results, the practice has also reported that pet owners enjoy the website and like all the information available on it.
