Layna Bishop is a professional dog trainer and our Assistant Manager. She received her training as a Basic Training Instructor from an accredited leading pet industry program in 2012. She has also trained with Service Dogs, Inc. in Austin, TX. In 2010, she became the first Certified Trick Dog Instructor in the State of Texas through Kyra Sundance. Layna did a Bite Training program with Carlos Escobar, a police dog trainer and KNPV trainer, in 2012. In addition, she completed a specialized behavioral training course with Christine and Toni, accredited trainers through Lucas-Agnew, at Tail to Tail Training in 2016. She has more than 7 years of experience working with animals in a professional setting and has been with Red Bluff Pet Resort since 2015. She currently resides in Pasadena, TX, with her three dogs and her bearded dragon.

Whether your pet needs puppy training, basic obedience training, or private lessons, the professionally trained staff at Red Bluff Pet Resort will be glad to take care of all of your training needs.

PRIVATE LESSONS

If you feel your pet would benefit from one-on-one time with our trainer, then private lessons may be for you. Private training lessons allow you to get expert advice tailored to your dog's specific needs in areas such as house training, basic obedience, problem behaviors, jumping and much more. Since private lessons cover a wide variety of issues, we invite you to speak to our trainer about your pet's specific needs. All private lessons are one hour and are held at Red Bluff Pet Resort unless other arrangements are made with our trainer.

Private Lessons (1 Session): $65
Private Lessons (3 Sessions): $190
Private Lessons (6 Sessions): $365

DAY TRAINING/BOARD & TRAIN

Our convenient Day Training and Board & Train options allow you to drop your pet off for training each day or enroll in training while your pet boards with us. We offer sessions with or without Group Play. All of our sessions come with a consultation with our trainer to go over progress. You can speak to our trainer in advance to discuss the behaviors you want to work on. We guarantee your pet will have a fun and enjoyable experience! Owners are not permitted to stay with their pet for Day Training and Board & Train options.

GROUP CLASSES

Puppy Class (Level 1) (3-6 months old)

Puppies may start this program two weeks after they receive their second set of vaccinations. Course includes  a Puppy Play Pass for one free day of group play per week during the course of the class. They must pass a temperament test first. See Group Play rules for details.

Puppy Training Class (6 weeks) - $180

Novice Class (Level 1) (7+ months old)

The Novice Class is a beginner class for older puppies and adult dogs who are just starting obedience training.

Expert Class (Level 2) (Must complete a puppy or basic obedience class prior to enrollment)

The Expert Class is an advanced training class for dogs who have completed the puppy or novice class. This class builds on what was taught in the previous classes and adds distraction and distance to the behaviors they already learned. Your pet will also learn a few games to help stimulate them and use their natural instincts.

Week 3 - Place Level 2/Meeting Other Dogs/Appropriate Play
Week 4 - Weave Poles/3 Step Sit/Box Jump
Week 5 - Shell Game/Search/Tricks

Expert Training Class (6 weeks) - $180

***Your pet may need special training equipment to reach their full potential

***Results will vary depending on reinforcement at home and each dogs individual learning skills

BEHAVIORAL SESSIONS

Behavioral sessions are available for pets who need   specialized training for one or more problem behaviors. A consultation with the lead trainer prior to the first class is required. While the trainers know how to teach and deter certain behaviors, they are not certified behaviorists. If a an issue arises that the trainer cannot work with, he or she may refer you to a Certified Animal Behaviorist.
