Dr. Joseph Dalo
Santa Barbara Veterinarian Dr. Dalo graduated cum laude at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. Dr. Dalo was the recipient of the Everingham Prise of cardiology in 1985 and is a member of Phi-Zeta, the national veterinary honor society. He has been consistently practicing small animal veterinary surgery and medicine with special interest in advanced orthopedic and soft tissue surgery and diagnostics since this time. Dr. Dalo was the first small animal veterinarian to offer Santa Barbara county residents small animal state of the art minimally invasive arthroscopic, laproscopic, endoscopic, thoroscopic surgery using state of the art equipment and advanced training. He continues to do this even today.
Dr. Dalo began his animal health science career after finishing his Bachelor of Science in biology in 1977. He took a job as an immunology research associate at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine studying animal models for human diseases. During these 4 years of employment Dr. Dalo went to night school and finished all the course work needed for a PhD in immunology maintaining a 4.0 GPA. He also became the supervisor of the clinical immunology laboratory as well as assistant lecturer of the clinical immunology lab medicine rotation of the veterinary school. In his junior year Dr. Dalo took a fellowship with Smith Klein and Beckmann's research and development laboratory trying to develop a model and better understanding of primary hypertension in humans.
In 1981 Dr. Dalo elected to enter veterinary school with emphasis in small animals. He practiced in large multiple doctor small animal hospitals in the Philadelphia New Jersey areas from 1985 through 1994 gaining abundant surgical and medical experience. In 1994 Dr. Dalo purchased La Concepcion Animal Hospital where he brought his experience to the Santa Barbara area residents and their pets.
Dr. Dalo has 4 children and a dashound named Haley. In his free time Dr. Dalo enjoys his children, playing tennis, playing guitar and riding motorcycles.
Dr. Michele A. Everitt
Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Dr. Everitt ("Dr. E") has always loved animals and wanted to be veterinarian since she was young. After receiving her bachelor degree in animal science at Cornell University, Dr. Everitt attended veterinary school at Texas A&M University. She graduated in 2014 and moved to Santa Barbara where she lives with her fiance, Dan, and their cat, Friday.
When not working, Dr. Everitt enjoys jogging, relaxing at the beach, exploring Santa Barbara, photography, writing, and visiting wineries. She is also hoping to learn how to surf!
Dr. Everitt is excited to join the La Concepcion team, and is dedicated to helping people and their pets.
