Just as with the human body, there are a number of medical conditions that can affect an animal that simply cannot be detected on the surface of the skin. That’s why veterinary diagnostics are so important. These tools provide us with the opportunity to dig deeper and identify, diagnose and treat any such condition in a timely manner. At Animal Medical Center of Mid-America, we offer a range of diagnostic services for our patients which help us to properly address and develop treatment plans for a variety of medical conditions.
Our extensive range of diagnostic services includes but is not limited to:
- Digital x-rays
- Fecal exams
- Heartworm tests
- Pre-surgical screenings
- Blood work and analysis (metabolic chemistries, hematology, canine pancreatitis screening)
Digital radiology (x-ray) is one of the most powerful diagnostic tools in veterinary care. This technology allows our veterinarians to get a comprehensive picture of what is happening beneath the surface of the skin. X-rays help us to pinpoint things like tumors and foreign bodies that your pet may have swallowed. They also help us to diagnose a variety of illnesses such as heart and lung disease and problems with the gastrointestinal tract. Animal Medical Center of Mid-America uses the latest x-ray technology and equipment to help us stay on top of your pet’s health.
Similar to how an x-ray lets us view what’s going on beneath the surface, ultrasound is another useful diagnostic tool used at Animal Medical Center of Mid-America. This technology is excellent for quickly and accurately diagnosing a number of medical conditions, such as those affecting the abdomen or heart. Many of our clients prefer ultrasound for their pets because the procedure is non-invasive, does not require surgery and is virtually painless. We are proud to offer this advanced diagnostic technique for our patients.
Once we have conducted diagnostic testing on our patients, our in-house laboratory allows us to achieve fast and accurate results. A quicker diagnosis means that the appropriate course of treatment can be determined in a timely manner, thereby improving chances of recovery. Our goal is to get to the bottom of whatever is bothering your pet and get them back to feeling happy and healthy again as quickly as possible.
